The 2022 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou contains a lot more Merlot this year as they were compensating for the lack of Cabernet Sauvignon, this Deuxième Vin raised in 80% new oak. It has a delineated bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit. The briary and smoky aromas feel more understated compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and seamlessly integrated oak that lends a silky texture. Very harmonious with an insistent grip (the IPT is 93), it lacquers the mouth long after it has departed. That Pauillac tincture is displayed and defines its precise finish. Excellent, but be warned that the oak will require several years to assimilate fully. Not so far behind the Grand Vin because of the growing season.

The second wine of this great château, the 2022 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is based on two-thirds Merlot with the balance mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, raised in 80% new French oak. Hitting 14% natural alcohol, its vivid purple hue is followed by stunning aromatics of cassis, blueberries, tobacco, graphite, and chalky minerality. Full-bodied on the palate, it brings plenty of concentration and structure yet is balanced and has a great mid-palate and outstanding length. If there was a ranking for the top second wines in Bordeaux, this would be in the top handful of releases.

2020 was drier than average until the harvest, when it rained and diluted the grapes, and they had to wait to regain concentration. The result is that the 2020 Alion is a wine with better balance and freshness. They felt the skins were very ripe and they could extract more and use a little more American oak (4%) in the elevage. From 2019, they kept the press wine separate until June, and they keep separate quantities of press wines that are aged in different containers depending on the quality of the wine. They used a percentage of concrete and oak vats for the elevage, which gives the wine more verticality and freshness. It's a subtle and elegant Alion, not as dense as some other vintages, but with nice balance and very elegant tannins Drinking Window: 2025 - 2035

Tasting Notes: Rustica has stunning aromatics with lightly perfumed with a fresh apple scent and a citrusy electricity. It is silky and full on the mid-pallet, acid-driven, and dry with lighter tannins and subtle herbal notes. A refreshing cider, lightly tannic and perfect for pairing with rotisserie chicken and veggies.

Blanc de Noirs is a Champagne from a selection of parcels chosen for the quality of their grapes. All parcels are vinified separately, which shows exactly their characteristics. The base wines are aged on fine lees, in vats, for 18 months, before blending. The aging on fine lees of the wines makes it possible to highlight its aromas. The wines are not filtered so that they keep all their material and their complexity, which also gives them a much higher potential of protection and longevity. After cellaring and disgorging, the Champagne will be aged for at least 6 months in the cellar.

Tenth generation winemaker of a large Burgundy family, Bruno de Villepin settled in Champagne in 1999 on the family property, purchased by his great-great-grandfather to the Duchess of Uzès, granddaughter of Veuve Clicquot. 2.12 hectares (5.25 acres) of vineyard, composed of 55% of Pinot Meunier, 30% of Chardonnay and 15% of Pinot Noir. The continuing effort to reduce the environmental footprint of its viticulture practices, a gentle and meticulous oenology, without filtration, and some parceled vinification since 2008, when he set up his winery. He started marketing at the end of 2013 with two vintages, the 2008 vintage and the brut Champagne. Bruno continues his labor-intensive work in the vineyards, so the vines can grow the best grapes possible, from one year to the next. The quality of the wines depends mainly on what is done in the vineyards, from the
plantation, through the size, the trellising and the grape harvest. Bruno has worked towards organic certification over the past few years and will be fully certified in 2024.

2022 base

George Dickel Rye Whisky is the only rye finished in the chilled charcoal-mellowed style that has made this whisky distinct. It is spicy with an exceptionally smooth finish and is a great choice in classic cocktails like The Old Fashioned and Manhattan. 45%abv.

The 2021 Graciano Portico Hills shows the darker, weightier side of Graciano. Black cherry, plum, gravel, menthol, crushed rocks, dried herbs and incense are all dialed up in this brooding, potent Graciano. The 2021 is going to need some time to soften. (7/2023) Drinking Window 2023-2031

Brilliant topaz tones with amber hues. Pleasant orange notes on the nose with hints of candied peel, light aroma of vanilla fragrance from the cognac. Fragrant orange flavors enhanced by the cognac with nuances of orange essence and hazelnuts. Lingering and harmonious finish.

To make Soif, we blended two spontaneously fermented ciders aged on cherries and strawberries and added almost one tonne of Zweigelt skins for an extra month of skin contact. It's a red fruit bonanza.

Soif is easy. A thirst quencher; a glugger; a quaffable refresher.

Ingredients: Apples, cherries, strawberries, grape skins.

Zero grams of sugar. Naturally fermented.

Hendrick's Neptunia Gin is a limited release that combines the classic cucumber and rose petal notes with what the distiller calls "coastal" botanicals. Hendrick's doesn't specify what these are but they do lend an enhanced palate complexity along with a very smooth citrus finish. 43.4%abv

The 2020 Haut-Brion is a blend of 42.8% Merlot, 39.7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17.5% Cabernet Franc, harvested from 7th to 29th September, with an estimated alcohol of 15% and a pH of 3.8. Opaque purple-black colored, it leaps from the glass with a first wave of vibrant black raspberries, ripe blackberries and mulberries scents, followed by a powerful core of warm cassis, dark chocolate and violets, before bursting into an array of crushed rocks, iron ore, tree bark and black truffles notes. The concentrated, densely packed, full-bodied palate is not in the least bit heavy, delivering a refreshing backbone of red berry and dried herbs suggestions, framed by seamless acidity and very finely grained tannins, finishing on an epically long, fragrant earth note. This is a superb Haut-Brion with incredible tannins that are wonderfully fine-grained. It?????s really powerful. This is very primary with so much grape-generated tannin structure. Very, very long, going on for minutes. Seductive and friendly at the start and then takes you on at the finish with so much structure. Wine of the vintage?

Unquestionably one of the top wines in this impressive vintage, the 2020 Chateau Haut-Brion checks in as 42.8% Merlot, 39.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Cabernet Franc, all of which will spend 15-18 months in 77% new French oak. Its deep purple color is followed by a thrilling nose of mineral-laced blackcurrants, black raspberries, toast, spice, scorched earth, and graphite. Possessing an almost Lafite-like elegance on the palate, it nevertheless has huge dry extract, full-bodied richness, flawless balance, and beautiful tannins. Per the spec sheet, the alcohol is an estimated 15% with a pH of 3.78, so it?????s no shrinking violet, yet it never shows a hint of headiness or being over the top. I finished my note with ?????Where can I buy some?????? I suspect this wine will require a solid decade to hit the early stages of maturity and will be a 30-, 40-, or possibly a 50-year wine.

Surpassing the 2019 and rivaling the 2016 as this estate's finest vintage of the last few decades, the 2020 Montrose is a monument in the making. Wafting from the glass with aromas of violets, dark berries, licorice, loamy soil, black truffle and subtle spices, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, terrific purity and energy, beautifully powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. It checks in at 13.7% alcohol, the same as the superb 2009, but it is even deeper, more vibrant and more complex than the 2009. This will be worth a special effort to seek out and only confirms Montrose's status as one of the contemporary Medoc's leading estates and a de facto first growth.

The 2020 Montrose was bottled in July 2022. The alcohol is 13.4%, a whole degree less than the previous year but with the same concentration (IPT is 80). It has a fabulous bouquet that delivers on all that promise from when I finally tasted the wine around a year earlier from barrel, a cornucopia of blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone, Indian ink and loamy/undergrowth scents. Very mercurial in the glass, it seems to shapeshift with every minute. The palate is medium-bodied with such a precise entry. This is far more detailed than either the 2019 or 2018, a symmetrical Montrose with unerring detail and mineralite, its silky texture belying the power underneath. This is unequivocally a brilliant wine and a benchmark in recent years. Contender for wine of the vintage. Neal Martin (2/2023)

This layered sweet wine displays a deep, glossy brown color and is truly indulgent. The nose features raisin, pumpkin pie spice, tobacco leaf and pure sugar cane notes. The palate is rich, expansive and beautifully balanced with honeyed, almost milk chocolatey raisin and smoke flavors. It is a very long and elegant PX and finishes with expressive coffee, tea leaf and buttered popcorn tones. Fantastic with blue cheese, toasted nuts, dried fruit, poured over vanilla ice cream or for something truly decadent, pair it with chocolate glazed doughnuts, sticky buns or Paris-Brest pastry. - PJ

Antinori?????s 2018 Solaia captures all of the elegance of this important vintage. The bouquet alone is mesmerizing. It speaks to the stunning beauty and pedigree of Cabernet Sauvignon as grown at the Antinori family?????s Tignanello property. Sweet scents of cr??me de cassis, lavender, graphite, mint, spice and espresso lead into a fine, delineated palate. Bright and energetic, Solaia is decidedly medium in body in 2018, with striking purity and exceptional beauty. I can?????t remember ever tasting a young Solaia with this much sheer appeal and balance in the early going. In 2018 Solaia is 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 7% Cabernet Franc.

Aged in small casks, this Oban is a little lighter than the 14 year old version, but also shows a little more saltiness and minerality. A great aperitif, or a good whisky to explore for those looking to get away from the standard Highland malts.

Appearance: rich antique gold. Nose: oily, waxy and nutty, balanced by ripe orchard fruits. Notes of almond fruit cake on denser Christmas pudding, with cereal and orange behind. Body: medium to rich. good viscosity. Palate: The comforting chewiness of rich fruit-bread, hints of orange zest and clove, growing drier, still minty, with crisp green apple. Finish: long, quite syrupy at first, then drying, with elegant coating tannins rich in dark chocolate character. 43%abv - Dried Fruit and Nut -
