By working closely with local growers on long-term contract, brothers Ernst and Thomas Loosen are able to maintain excellent quality in every vintage. Winemaker Notes:
The fresh, balanced taste of clean slate is achieved by carefully selecting grapes from vineyards throughout the Mosel. The steep blue slate slopes of the Lower Mosel give the wine its minerality while the Middle Mosel provides a hint of spice to complement the characteristics fresh peach flavors of the Upper Mosel. The result is a clean, fresh flavor that is delicious with food and perfect to share with friends.
Pairs beautifully with spicy cuisines, Asian, Tex-Mex, Indian and sushi.

8.3g/l RS and 8.5g/l acidity. The Muller Estate Trocken comes this year from old vines from 1983 at the top of the Niedermenniger Herrenberg, a red slate site. Vinified dry in 2/3 stainless steel, 1/3 Fuder barrels. Energetic, crunchy, mineral, and far more serious a wine than it has to be -- as always!

Organic

This wine offers a nicely engaging nose of pear, white flowers, herbs, and smoke. The wine proves still slightly tart but full of character on the palate and leaves a nicely light-footed and animating feel in the long finish. Tartness and zest add persistence to the aftertaste. This easy-going wine will offer much pleasure over the summer!

The 2022 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese #11 just shyly speaks of white peach compote on the nose, nothing more. The palate is clear-cut. It flashes a steely slate tone before mollifying it with riper fruit and aromatic citrus, so you are undoubtedly aware of its natural colors. This is stone and poise, depth and salty slate, adorning its essential, stony nature with white peach, ripe, expressive tangerine and a fillip of zesty spice on the finish. Organic

Spontaneous fermentation, aging in 70% stainless steel, 30% fuder and doppelfuder from the 1940s and 1960s; kept on the lees for 10 months. Fabelhaft means both ?€?fabulous?€? and ?€?containing fables.?€? The label is of a German fable in which a pair of ducks fight over a frog for dinner, only to be captured by a chef themselves. The wine is a blend of all the different estate vineyards to showcase this part of the Mosel. Only Riesling from steep slopes is used, and grapes are hand-harvested and naturally fermented. SO2 used only at bottling.

The name Fio means ?€?thread?€? in Portuguese. The estate is a joint venture connecting two families: the Kettern family, who have been making wine in the Mosel for several hundred years, and the Niepoort family, led by famed Portuguese winemaker, Dirk Niepoort. Dirk is known for his different collaborations and works with winemakers across the globe. In addition to his travels in Spain, France, and Italy, he had traveled to the Mosel in his youth and befriended the late Wilhelm Haag, who passed away earlier this year. Wilhelm was an iconoclast and taught Dirk that ?€?great wine didn?€?t have to be powerful and rich to be wonderful.
