"This crisp, fruit-forward and juicy wine has expressive aromas and flavors of ripe red berries, with nice heft in the mouth, and mineral and spice notes. Most red meats and grilled or roasted white meats, especially those prepared with savory herbs or spices."

New York Times 20 Wines Under $20:Finding Bargains Amid Inflation
"I especially like the ’21 Guignier Beaujolais, which rises above the potential of the straightforward Beaujolais appellation, the lowest level of the region’s hierarchy of potential. This bottle, made with organically farmed fruit, has beautiful flavors of red fruit underpinned by earthy minerality that gives it unexpected depth." - Eric Asimov
90 points James Suckling
From the first instant aromas of wild berries and herbs pour from the glass, a sour cherry note developing with a little aeration! And the palate has a similar balance of fresh and ripe elements, the gentle tannins neatly supporting the slightly sappy, but expressive finish. From organically grown grapes.

93 points James Suckling
A ripe and powerful wine for one of the low-profile appellations of Beaujolais, with a pronounced blackcurrant-pastille note, but also savory and wet-earth aromas. Quite a serious tannin structure that’s married to crisp, mineral acidity. All this needs some time to fully harmonize, but this should age well. From organically grown grapes.
92 points Vinous
Glistening ruby. Fresh red and blue fruits, violet and baking spices on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and gently chewy in texture, offering sappy cherry and boysenberry flavors that flesh out and turn sweeter through the mid-palate. Fine-grained tannins add grip to a long, spicy finish that features repeating florality and a sneaky hint of gaminess. Best after 2023

The 2019 Fleurie wafts from the glass with pretty aromas of sweet berry fruit, spices, rose petals and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, ample and perfumed, with melting tannins and lively acids, it's pretty and delicate, with lovely purity of fruit that reflects intensive sorting.

100% Gamay. About 3.5 of Georges Descombes' 15 hectares of vines are in the Brouilly cru; he also purchases a bit of Brouily fruit. There are two Brouilly bottlings: one from the oldest vines and this one, from the younger vines, which range 5 up to almost 50 years old. All are planted on hilly sites of decomposed granite soils. The farming is organic, though not certified, and the harvest is manual. The vinification is traditional: whole-bunch, semi-carbonic maceration in large vats (cement, fiberglass, stainless steel) with native yeasts and no sulfur. The wine is aged in a mix of vat and large wood foudres for around a year, making Descombes' releases generally quite a bit later than those of his fellow vignerons. It is bottled with a very small amount of sulfur and a light, non-sterile filtration.

Almost all the grapes for this cuvée come from within the Morgon cru, but the wine is not entitled to the Morgon appellation because yields surpass the accepted limit of 56 hl/ha. This is intentional: the high yields prevent excessive concentration and yield an easy-drinking, fruit-driven red with low alcohol.
Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Semi-carbonic maceration without SO2, for 4-6 days. 2 months in Cuve.
