Ch??teau de la Chaize is one of the oldest, most historic estates in Burgundy's Beaujolais region. Boasting over 250 acres of land, it is also one of the largest. This stunning property ?€? designated an Historic Monument in 1972 ?€? was designed by Mansard, with gardens by Lenotre, designers of the Palace of Versailles, just outside of Paris.

Aromas of black cherry, pomegranate and blackberry - very complex - with hints of blood orange, licorice and spice. The palate is dense and deep showing the Moulin-a-Vent side of Fleurie, with juicy black fruits backed with firm acidity and mineral flavors. The finish is long with sappy fruit liqueur and earthy acidity.

Organic

Almost all the grapes for this cuv??e come from within the Morgon cru, but the wine is not entitled to the Morgon appellation because yields surpass the accepted limit of 56 hl/ha. This is intentional: the high yields prevent excessive concentration and yield an easy-drinking, fruit-driven red with low alcohol.

Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Semi-carbonic maceration without SO2, for 4-6 days. 2 months in Cuve.

Bursting with aromas of crunchy red berries, peonies, spices and plums, it's medium-bodied, ample and enveloping, with succulent acids, melting tannins and a pretty, perfumed finish. Despite the challenges of the year, the Coudert family have produced a lovely classic, and it's a wine that's much more drinkable and vibrant than some of the recent banner vintages at this address.

Organic

A blend of two clones of Gamay, Gamy Saint Romain and Gamay de Bouze, from 75 year old vines in Cote Roannaise. This is an earthy/savory style of Gamay with a classic dry finish making this very food friendly. Carbonic maceration in stainless steel. 12.5% abv
