Our next wine seminar will focus on Tuscany’s other great winemaking area- not Montalcino or Chianti, but Montepulciano through the lens of arguably its greatest winery, Avignonesi. Yes, we are referring to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the nobile wine of Montepulciano the town, not the variety. Confusing, I know; hence the seminar! Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a Sangiovese-based wine, like much of Tuscany, not Montepulciano the grape, which is commonly found in Abruzzo, Marche, etc.
Avignonesi’s U.S. ambassador Amelia Di Marco will walk us through the winery’s history, the wines, and their regenerative approach to farming. We will discuss the uncertainty of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano’s identity and how Avignonesi is at the forefront of rectifying it. We will taste through an incredible lineup of wines from entry-level, classic Vino Nobiles, and even Super Tuscan. And if we are lucky, Amelia may have a special treat for us as well!
