The greater vineyard of Les Poyeux hosts a mythical terroir, home to some of the Loire?????s most coveted red wines. Les Poyeux consists of 2 very distinct terroirs with unique expressions, in spite of the soil components being similar.
Les Bas Poyeux rests at the lower part of the of the Les Poyeux slope, with a complex soil which begins with 20 cm of sand above a distinctive limestone and clay subsoil. This leaves a prominent limestone imprint in the wines from this area, giving Les Bas Poyeux its "blood" side. To best elaborate the depth and complexity of this particular terroir, Duveau makes the choice to age the wine in a mix of concrete and neutral barrel.

Produced from vines planted well south of the cluster of northern-Thermenregion villages that comprise the majority of their holdings, Stadlmann’s Pinot Noir (called “Blauburgunder” locally) is simultaneously fresh and substantial, offering the textural harmoniousness of their white wines, as well as a lifted and elegant spice character that puts one in the mind of excellent red Burgundy. (After all, it was the Cistercian monks who brought Pinot Noir from Burgundy to the Thermenregion in the late 1100s.) Like the estate’s white wines, this is fermented and aged entirely in large, well-worn oak casks and bottled without fining and with only a gentle filtration. 12.5% abv (Rosenthal Wine Merchant Import)

According to a document written in Latin and dated 1385, a Llopart family?€?s ancestor, Bernardus Leopardi, was granted some vineyards located in the present country estate Can Llopart de Subirats. Over the following centuries the Llopart family combined the cultivation of traditional agricultural Mediterranean products: grapevine, wheat and olive. At the end of the XVIII century the Lloparts decided to devote themselves exclusively to wine growing. The secular dedication to vine cultivation, elaboration and wine growing reaches its turning point, after intense testings, with the production of the first Cava Llopart bottles at the old country house cellar in 1887. In the early 1950s, Pere Llopart i Vilaros gave his cellars a new drive. He actively contributed in launching the "craft cavas" and consolidated cava Llopart as a high quality product.

A dark ruby color in the glass, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a beguiling blend of dusty earth, crushed rocks, savory herbs and dried roses. This is racy and sleek, with vividly ripe wild berry fruits elevated by orange and sage, all guided by vibrant acidity. Grippy tannins take control through the finish, yet the mouth is left watering for more as a bitter licorice tinge and dark chocolate adds a crunchy sensation

It fermented with 80% full clusters that were foot trodden with indigenous yeasts and had a 40-day maceration. It matured in oak foudre and 500-liter barrels for 13 months. It really surprised me with its elegance and freshness. It's floral and perfumed but subtle with great purity and freshness. It transcends the vintage. 2022-2027.

The 2019 Chianti Classico has changed dramatically since I last tasted it, either because of more time in bottle, or because this is a later bottling. The second wine in the Bordeaux sense is the 2019 Macn Clsico, a more concentrated and powerful wine cropped from a warmer and drier year that was saved by the 80 liters of rain in the first half of September. It fermented in stainless steel with 10% of their own yeasts, and the levage was 22% in stainless steel and the rest in new and used oak barrels, mostly French but with around 5% of them American, and lasted 12 months. It has a moderate 14% alcohol, mellow acidity and good freshness and balance. 2019 was a dry and warm year when they did a soft vinification to avoid harsh tannins. The nose is ripe without excess, and the oak is neatly integrated. The palate is juicy and round, with fine tannins and a velvety texture.
93+ points James Suckling
Rich, but refined and layered nose that unwinds dark plums, dried strawberries, olives, cocoa beans and some savory Mediterranean spices. Medium-to full-bodied palate, framed by an abundance of powerful, fine-grained tannins that give a grippy texture

An unbelievably gastronomic wine – this “orange” wine that tastes like the finest of Oloroso but has the body and electricity of a vibrant white wine. Crystalline amber in color and insanely aromatic, the unctuous notes of tropical fruits and hazelnuts are chiseled on the palate by the precision of aged Palomino. There is the succulence of dried apricots and the hint of cocoa you love in your Generoso, but with a poise and precision.

A slightly sweet version of Cabernet Sauvignon, while it has the primary characteristics of a Cab, pronounced berries, dark chocolate, coffee, and leather, it loses the some of the harshness that turn people away from Cabs. It has a soft luscious feel to it with a well rounded mouth. Goes well with red meat, chicken, and especially those that are marinated with a sweet finish.
