The 2024 Riesling Ayler Schonfels Grosses Gewächs No. 11 is from a steep, windy cliff that drops down to the Saar. The nose initially is full of yeast, but air brings a touch of pepperiness. The palate is slender, stony and absolutely taut. It trembles with notes of arugula, pepper and lemon salt. The 2024 is so linear, clean-cut, wonderfully bracing and superbly precise.
