James Suckling on a previous vintage:
Quite an aromatic chardonnay here, with discerning notes of sliced green apples, melon and lemon zest. Round and textured, with simple apple pith and nectarines in the pristine yet flavorful palate. Lots of fruit in the round, medium- to full-bodied palate.

The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py has a vivid, stony bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a touch more sour cherry in the mix, especially on the piquant finish. Again, this is very promising and might become the edgiest of Burgaud's 2024s.

The composition is 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is marked by a vibrant ruby/garnet color married to a richly spicy nose with hints of tobacco and coffee in the background; the flavors are dominated by red currant, cassis, and raspberry; the texture is silky and the wine is smooth and generous on the palate; the subtle tannins have grip but are graceful making this wine particularly welcoming over the near term.
The Pueyos follow traditional vinification techniques. After a 3 day cold maceration, fermentation takes place in both cement tanks and stainless steel tanks. Either way, temperatures are closely monitored so the fermentation proceeds at a controlled pace with maximum temperatures reaching 28 degrees Celsius. The “cuvaison” (fermentation + maceration) usually lasts between 15 and 20 days. Closely monitoring the temperature during fermentation helps avoid extracting the harsher, more bitter tannins that can appear if the temperature gets too high. Half of the wine is aged in barrels for 18 months following fermentation. Only 25% new barrels and 25% one-year-old barrels are used each year, to avoid overwhelming the fruit. The second part of the cuvée is aged in cement tanks. The two parts of the wine are ultimately blended, then fined with egg whites before bottling.
The 2017 vintage was tied for Third Place in PJ Wine's - Wine of the Year 2021 blind taste-off.

Bodegas Zudugarai produces a range of different Txakolinas from Getaria in the Basque region of Spain. Antxiola is lovely gently sparkling, light bodied and low in alcohol. It tastes as if you’re savoring the freshest sea breeze. - Eric Asimov
Lemon-drop, candied-pear and pineapple character, following through to a medium body with a creamy texture and a fruity, tangy finish. Drink now.
Antxiola pronounced (ahn-cho-la) is a txacoli wine made by Bodegas Zudugarai. The winery was founded in 1989 by the Errasti family, the same year that the DO of Getaria-Txakolina was founded. The vineyards are farmed organically, and their Hondurabbi grapes are hand-picked and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then bottled young to retain some of its natural effervescence. The result is a bracingly refreshing wine with a slight spritz, bursting with citrus and minerality. Fresh slices of Granny Smith apple and lemon-lime titillate the palate, with bright acidity giving a mouthwatering finish.

A pretty and balanced wine with blackberry, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins and a polished finish. Shows finesse for Toro. Aged for 14 months in wood, a small percentage of which was used. From organically grown grapes.

The entry-level 2021 Termes wants to be an approachable and easier-to-understand varietal expression of the Tinta de Toro/Tempranillo sourced from younger vines (25 to 50 years old). It's ripe at 15% alcohol, juicy and fruit-driven, with a tender mouthfeel and fine tannins. Forty percent of the barrels used for the aging were 400-liter ones, and only 20% of them were new. We have been selling this wine for years, ever since it won our 2019 vintage Rosé Taste-Off! Made from organically grown Aglianico grapes, by one of the top producers in Campania. The first thing you will notice is the very cool-shaped bottle, the second thing will be the color of the wine - it is the color of Watermelon Jolly Ranchers! This Italian Rosato has red berry, citrus notes, and great depth, all resulting in the most compelling wine of the tasting. Crisp and bright, with great intensity and yet low in alcohol. If you want to step up your Rosé game, this is the wine to do it!
San Salvatore is located in the heart of the Cilento National Park, in the Campania region of southern Italy. With 149 hectares devoted to organically-farmed agriculture, including vineyards, olive groves, and crops that support their 550-head of water buffalo, San Salvatore has quickly become one of Italy's most environmentally-conscious Azienda Agricola.
San Salvatore's first harvest was in 2009, but their historic vineyards were planted by the Ancient Greeks with the same varieties that continue to flourish in this region today: Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, and Aglianico. This mountainous region of Campania has a high level of biodiversity and the soil is rich in minerals. The influence of the nearby sea and ideal sun exposure help to create an ideal microclimate for viticulture and other crops.
Deeply committed to preserving the delicate balance of the land, San Salvatore takes a special interest in cultivating the vineyards without synthetic products or genetically modified organisms and uses biodynamic preparations like horn dung that favor the natural fertility of the ground and the production of beneficial humus. Vines are also protected from pests and diseases with the careful use of copper and sulfur when necessary.
The winery even supplies its own power needs with an onsite photovoltaic plant and a biodigester to reduce its carbon footprint and emissions through innovative processes. San Salvatore has genuinely excelled at achieving sustainable living ideals and continues to set the standard for environmental practices in the Italian wine industry.

The rose from Manarine carries a vibrant tint and is vinified completely dry. It is a blend of Grenache (60%), young vines mourvedre (20%) and Syrah (20%). Like the white wine, it is fermented and aged in cement vats and is bottled in the early spring following harvest.
Domaine La Manarine practices organic viticulture. Work in the cellar is minimal with little intervention. Fermentations are left to start with indigenous yeasts, with no fining and only a light filtration is utilized. Considering the personal attention and great care invested in his wines, his five bottlings offer some of the best value in the Rhone Valley.

This is the most important wine of the estate, a serious red vinified to reflect its capacity to age. The grapes are harvested at a point of slight surmaturit?? which captures the profound scents and flavors of the surrounding hillside garrigue. The cuvaison continues for at least a month; then, the wine is racked into tank for aging. The wine is bottled twenty to twenty-four months after harvest. As the wine ages in bottle, it develops enticing notes of juniper, rosemary and thyme as well as the savory flavors of wild berries and a hint of the "animal" all in all, one of the more compelling values in all of France.

The 2019 Reserva Única was produced with Tempranillo and 3% Graciano from one single vineyard, fermented, destemmed and with indigenous yeasts selected from their vineyards. It matured in oak barrels, 60% French and 40% American, for 24 months, including malolactic, and it was racked every four months. This is somewhere between the more classical range (Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva) and the more modern one. It's quite complete and balanced in a classical year, with ripeness, 14.1% alcohol, a pH of 3.66 and 5.6 grams of acidity, keeping the balance. This dry Italian white is a great example of what Pecorino can achieve. A straw-yellow color with a subtle toasty element and lovely minerality on the back end. This has an elegantly floral bouquet with a touch of jasmine that is quite inviting. The racy acidity holds throughout keeping it fresh and bright. Hard to beat at this price!
This family-run estate is situated in Castel di Lama in the Ascoli Piceno region, in southernmost Marche, with vineyard holdings (45 ha) straddling the Abruzzo line. The main vineyard, in Offida, is hilly (280m-350m), with eastern exposure and a loose clay soil. First planted in the 1950s, the winery is managed today by proprietor/winemaker Quinto Fausti and his son Alighiero. The Offida DOC is Pecorino's key appellation – it is the only DOC-level appellation that allows varietal wines from the grape.
Tenuta De Angelis is one of a handful of Italian wineries that have gone through the laborsome process of getting their Organic certification. All wines are fermented with native yeasts and sulfur is at a minimum.
