One of the best known sherry bombs, the Aberlour A?????bunadh. From Gaelic, a?????bunadh means "(of) the origin", or "the original", and is meant to honor an earlier style of whisky making at the Speyside distillery Aberlour. Bottled at cask strength, slowly matured in rare Oloroso sherry butts, this malt is full of rich, smooth, complex flavors. 60.7%abv - Rich Fruit and Spice - "Brave the cask-strength heat and be rewarded by a malt that's welcoming and complex. Sherry and cherry dominate at first, but a cereal-granola-honey quality and a licorice note flirt from behind the curtain. The essential candy element returns on the finish." Wine Spectator

"Somehow this 12 year old-a mix of sherry and American oak's overlooked by malt lovers heading straight to the mental world of a'Bunadh. This is Aberlour at a crucial point in its growth: you've lost the maltiness of the 10 year old, but there's none of the heavy toffee and licorice of a'Bunadh or older expressions. "A port cask finish gives this Scotch a copper penny hue. The aroma suggests baked apple, while the palate has a chewy, concentrated vanilla-oak profile, leading to walnut, leather and espresso. The rounded finish sings with sherry and spice. Adding water coaxes out baked apple sweetness and dials back the oak." 94pts Wine Enthusiast.

"A new addition to the permanent Balvenie range. Lovely bright gold color. Layers of sweetness (the characteristic Balvenie honey, along with vanilla fudge, nougat, and rich toffee) peppered with dried spice and a hint of tropical fruit (papaya, guava, tangerine). Nice viscosity with good grip on the finish. I really like the balance and complexity of this whisky. A very solid effort and the price is right." Whisky Advocate - Malt and Honey -

Nose: Sweet fruit and oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla. Palate: Smooth and mellow with beautifully combined flavours, nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry. Finish: Long and warming. 43% abv - Dried Fruit and Nut -

"One of the finest Balvenie 15 year olds I've tasted. The flavors are clean, well defined, confident, and beautifully balanced. Full malty foundation (with some ripe barley thrown in). Soft, creamy vanilla, honeycomb, bright fruit (orange, nectarine, lemon peel, hints of pineapple), with emerging dried vanilla, coconut, oak resin, and subtle anise. Polished oak finish. It doesn't have the depth that the classic older Balvenies have shown in the past, but what it does have, it has in spades. Beautiful!" 91 - Whisky Advocate, 47.8% abv - Malt and Honey -

"This oft-overlooked Speysider has been frustratingly variable in the past, but now seems to have hit greater consistency. Worm tubs and weird stills combine to give a complex malt, but one that needs help from oak to blossom fully. There are hedgerow aromas: black currant leaf, hawthorn berries, and lots of honey. Speyside whiskies are known to be fruity and floral, but as the bad boy of Speyside, Craigellachie defies with its oil fired, rich character. Craigellachie 13 is matured in a mixture of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The bourbon casks bring vanilla, toffee and fudge notes to the fore, and the sherry casks provide richness and complexity.

Nose: Fresh sherry embraces the maltier, more honeyed aspects of Dalwhinnie. Peaty and surprisingly, still heathery. Spicy yet grapy. Palate: A big, spicy buzz followed by an impressive build-up of very clear, well defined Scotch. After a quick burst of sweetness, a rich, grape effect moves in towards the middle. Finish: Tons of oak. Very, very dry with vanilla dominating. The perfect dram for those in search of a very dry malt finish. (Producer's Note) - Malt and Honey -
