An organically farmed and naturally made Bobal. A very fresh and vibrant red with tingly acidity. Dark purple and blue fruit on full display with a gentle touch of tannins. A slight chill makes this crusher even more crushable! 12.5% abv
Hand harvested, whole clusters, short maceration in stainless steel. Also, that adorable label was created by Susana!
The Piqueras and Garcia families joined forces together in 1952 abbreviating their names to create Bodegas Pigar. Located in Campo de Arcis, a small town in Requena, province of Valencia, where they grew grapes and for many generations sold them off to Cava producers and the like. More than two generations after their families were merely growers, Juan and Susana Lopez moved out of the city back to their farm and are now making microvinifications from their own 8 ha. Everything is farmed without the use of pesticides or chemicals of any kind.
La Cuvee de Susana is from the last parcels they recuperated in the early 2000s. Sixty plus year old Bobal vines on six terraces. Whole clusters fermentation and short maceration for only five days. Stainless fermentation for three months on the lees and bottled in January after the harvest.
