And an extraordinary location, as well - this "island within an island" that is the Etna - that my brother and I chose. And that, I sometimes believe, actually chose us. A place where nature is prodigal but also severe. And here I try with all my heart to express as purely as possible the refined and multifaceted microcosm of this ancient volcanic land. With respect, care and hard farm work, always in organic balance. The estate's philosophy is simple. Given an extreme climate, in order to obtain the best and most consistent ripening, our attention must focus on vineyard management. The finest workmanship in all aspects of viticulture is the first thing that sets us apart. And what enables us, bringing home exceptionally fine grapes, not to be invasive in our cellar work. A work best described as aimed above all at expressing the character of our varieties in their specific terroir. A great team, a delicate hand and a heightened sensibility, as well. And our ideals, that drive us to give the best of ourselves in quest, not of perfection, but of the ideal bond between what nature gives us and that which our sensitivity, experience and imagination suggests. All this sets us apart.

60 Carricante, 25 Catarratto, 10 Grecanico, 5 Minnella from vineyards located on the northern slopes of the Etna volcano at 600-900 meters above seal level. After harvest at the beginning of October, the grapes go through a soft pressing and low temperature fermentation in stainless steel.

The brightness, lovely density and focus come through clearly here with an almost pinot sensibility and a long finish. It's polished with fine tannins and a brilliant texture. Mostly grapes from San Lorenzo and Calderara Sottana vineyards. Drink or hold.

95% Nerello mascalese, 5% Nerello cappuccio. Volcanic soil. Northern slope of Mount Etna, from 600 up to 900 meters above sea level. 5 to 50-year-old vines. Temperature controlled fermentation (25-28° C) with spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aged in large French oak barrels (10-30 hl) for 16 months of wood aging, plus one month in steel. Bottled unfiltered. Annual production on average 11,000 cases

This wine is as black in color as the darkest night! It displays notes of black currants, black cherries, and plums with a hint of vanilla and a waft of pepper. The full-bodied mouthfeel is accompanied with a chewy finish.

The House Cabernet Sauvignon Batch #18 was crafted with minimal interference in both the vineyards and the cellar. Traditional winemaking includes extended skin maceration, aerating pump-overs and nearly 2 years of French Oak aging.

Very intense clear aromas of dark Morello cherries and wild raspberries on the nose. Fresh on the palate with a touch of herbal mint, precise acidity and a long mineral-salty finish. Very animating - pure Pinot Noir with a powerful chewy finish.

The fully mature grapes are hand-picked at the ideal moment of ripeness during the harvest season. After they are sorted, destemmed and crushed in wine cellar. The must is fermented spontaneously on the skins for 3-4 weeks. The cap is punched down manually three times each day (pigeage). After fermentation the wine is pressed with low pressure, settled and transferred to French 225l oak barrels. Following the completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine stays in the barrels for 20 months. Bottled unfiltered without racking or fining at 13% alc.

La Storia Merlot is and has been consistently fine example of the ability of this classic Bordeaux variety to make solid, tasty and age worthy wines. The main aromas and flavors are of dark cherry, plums, a bit of black licorice and herbs. The new oak barrels contribute a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa dust and toast. On the mouth the wine is soft and viscous, balancing the acidity and the tannins well for such a young wine. The finish is long and soft with suggestion of sweetness backed by ripe tannins. This wine will age well and will reward your patience if stored well in the next 3-6 years.

Unshackled Red Blend opens with aromas of raspberry, blueberry, and crushed violets. Flavors of spiced dried cherries, florals and a hint of white pepper translate to a balanced red blend wine supported with a generous mouthfeel. A blend of Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache is barrel-aged in French and American oak casks for 11 months before bottling. Serve just below room temperature by refrigerating this wine bottle for up to 30 minutes. Pair this red wine blend with BBQ Pork Ribs or a Portobello Mushroom burger.

Organic

The new kid on the block is Vit??cola Mentridana, a family and friends project from Dani Landi (Comando G) and Curro Bare??o (Ca' di Mat and Fedellos) with family vineyards and some of the brands that used to belong to Landi. The first vintage is 2021, but the 2020s are already labeled and sold through this new project. In total, they have 15 hectares in M??ntrida and Real de San Vicente, some owned, some rented, but all are worked by them organically (and in due time they should get the certification). Production is around 40,000 bottles. It's a great new addition to Gredos.
