The 2020 A to Z Wineworks Oregon Pinot Noir opens with compelling aromatics suggesting red fruit (berries, plum, cranberry, pomegranate), spice (clove, turmeric, gingerbread), herbs (tea, thyme, mint, lavender), wood (spruce, cedar) and savory (bacon, dried mushroom) notes. The palate is succulent and round, with flavors like blackberry, black cherry, and pomegranate at the forefront. The oak profile adds complexity with hints of sandalwood, mesquite, vanilla, sweet spices, coffee, and chocolate. Structured tannins pair with fresh, balanced acidity to give the wine focus and precision as well as length. Faint flavors of cherry, purple flowers, and an herbal touch linger on the finish. The expressive 2020 A to Z Wineworks Oregon Pinot Noir presents a generous personality - Winemaker Notes

This is a very bold style of Pinot Noir, so much that it's not very reflective of the grape but would work well paired with a juicy grilled steak. Concentrated aromas of blackberry, maple syrup and hot pancakes lead into a viscous, thick palate of berry jam, clove and cardamom flavors.

"Bogle winemakers have sourced fruit from the best growing regions in California for the varietal. The terroirs of the cool Russian River Valley, coastal Monterey hills and the unique Clarksburg Delta all grow fruit of character and distinction. Combined, the resulting wine is elegant, classic Pinot Noir.Floral notes of violets and fragrant strawberries resonate throughout this wine, while touches of green tea add complexity and nuance. The sophisticated mouthfeel is vibrant with layers of cherry fruit, yet balanced by comforting leather and pipe tobacco. A combination of French and American oak makes quite an impression, leaving lingering earth tones and graceful tannins behind." Winemaker notes

"This Pinot Noir has aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cola accented with hints of oak spice and vanilla. In the mouth, this wine is rich with nice soft tannins and flavors of berries, vanilla and spice that fade into a lovely long finish." Winemaker notes
Sourced from Mendocino County appellation, this cool coastal region has a longer growing season, thus creating a bright, fruit forward Pinot Noir. After harvest, the fruit was gently de-stemmed and moved to small open-top fermenters for a three-day cold soak. It was then inoculated with select yeast strains for fermentation. The cap was punched down 2-3 times daily to reach the desired color and level of phenols. After a gentle pressing in a basket press, the wine was settled and transferred to French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak for nine months and then fined with organic egg whites prior to bottling.

The pinot grapes that go into the Cherry Pie Tri-County Pinot Noir are harvested at night to keep them cool, which creates stable sugar levels and better levels of acidity, as well as ensuring the fruit is less bruised in transport to the winery. The grapes are then fermented in individual county lots and brought together in the blending process. Cherry picking the best lots from the various counties, the wines selected are those that best exemplify the characteristics of each county’s terroir.
Tasting Notes:
The 2017 Cherry Pie Tri-County Pinot Noir jumps from the glass with aromas of sweet toasty oak with macerated cherries, cranberries and a hint of strawberry. On the palate, this wine is a juicy attack of Rainier cherries, well-balanced with a long, silky smooth finish.

"Stashing Pinot Noir in brandy barrels creates a lush mouthfeel, with salted caramel and delicious baking spices flavors. Each taste of this California Pinot Noir gives way to aromatic hints of cherry, cardamom and spiced apple. This red wine garners its unique taste thanks to Pinot Noir grapes found all across California's prime winegrowing regions. By blending a portion of Pinot Noir that’s been aged in brandy barrels, we produce a complex, smooth and rounded wine. Stack this flavorful, bold California wine up against steak or poultry, or enjoy on its own as a new sort of night cap. For a devilishly good taste, chill this Pinot Noir for 20 minutes prior to serving."

2021: "A red wine showcasing the most rustic high elevation sites in the Willamette Valley. A wine that finds its voice in generosity of conversation through space and restraint like a deep dialogue with a friend that listens."
Vineyard: 15 to 30-year-old vines on volcanic basalt and wind-blown mineral soil. Tualatin Hills AVA, Willamette Valley. Soft-pruned double guyot
Making of: The grapes are all hand-harvested and processed with zero sulfur. The grapes are then placed in open-top neutral barrels and tubs that allow for slow fermentation. After 10-30 days (depending on the vintage) of contact with the skins, stems and seeds, the wine is put to rest in neutral barrels. The wine ages on the lees for 18 months in a cave in Oregon’s coastal mountain range. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with a tiny amount of SO2 at bottling.
Personality: "a pure wine in which I can taste the soil where it was grown. I can taste the wind, the volcanic land and smell the gardens that are next to the vineyards. Bayleaf, tobacco, dark tea, red fruit," Jarad says.
Jarad on this wine: "Days until Harvest was created to bring forth an unadulterated expression of Pinot Noir from the most Northern Vineyards of the Willamette Valley. Our interest resides in the purity and transparency of the specific sites, and their unique texture, acidity, and rustic personality. This is a grower’s pinot noir that celebrates the time we spend throughout the season getting to know these vineyards, their soils, flowers, and fruits. The soils and high elevation are the protagonists here; the wine shows natural reduction and tension from its volcanic parent material. In each site, a small section of the vineyard is chosen to create an honest profile of what we farm throughout the year in our neighborhood."

Alain was born in 1950 to Yvon Burguet, a tacheron for Domaine Tortochot who also worked his own vines in Gevrey. fter military service, Alain returned to Gevrey and decided to start his own domaine, working exclusively with rented vines until 1974 when the opportunity arose to buy his first 2.10 ha of vines in the village. He bottled his own production from the start, and began to earn a reputation for himself, which was boosted around 1982 when Becky picked up Alain’s wines. She brought Jean Troigros to taste, who was utterly impressed with the Gevrey Vieilles Vignes and promptly added them to his restaurant’s list. Alain continued to expand his domaine, acquiring 1er Cru Les Champeaux in 1985, inheriting some of his father’s 3.5 hectares in 1991, while still working rented vineyards. Well before the more global movement toward sustainability and almost 20 years before Ecocert was created to certify organic agriculture, Alain insisted on organic methods.
