The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine was raised in 600-gallon foudre with a small proportion (8%) in new oak, and it’s roughly 90% Zinfandel along with an eclectic field mix. The nose opens to bright peppery spice, fresh cut flowers, and black raspberries, with deeper notes of fresh sanguine earth coming through. The palate is full-bodied yet restrained, with a detailed structure and length with a mountainous feel. It’s a great lens into the range they produce here at Bedrock and a tremendous value. Organic

The Bedrock Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that focuses as much on weight and texture as on the aromatics the grape is known for. The wine comes entirely from musque clone grown at Uboldi Vineyard in Kenwood and Judge Vineyard in Bennett Valley and the Bedrock Estate vineyard in Sonoma.

Fermentation was done in a mixture of tank (30%) and barrel (70%), in Stockinger and lightly toasted 320-liter cigare barrels developed specifically for the variety, a la Dagueneau.
Aged in a combination of smaller and large format barrels with 8% new French oak.

"This Pinot Noir has aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cola accented with hints of oak spice and vanilla. In the mouth, this wine is rich with nice soft tannins and flavors of berries, vanilla and spice that fade into a lovely long finish." Winemaker notes

Sourced from Mendocino County appellation, this cool coastal region has a longer growing season, thus creating a bright, fruit forward Pinot Noir. After harvest, the fruit was gently de-stemmed and moved to small open-top fermenters for a three-day cold soak. It was then inoculated with select yeast strains for fermentation. The cap was punched down 2-3 times daily to reach the desired color and level of phenols. After a gentle pressing in a basket press, the wine was settled and transferred to French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak for nine months and then fined with organic egg whites prior to bottling.

This has nice tension and tannic framing. Full-bodied, firm and lightly chewy with freshness, and spicy character to the ripe strawberry and cherry on the finish. Drink or hold.

Winemakine Notes:
This Cabernet Sauvignon underwent a maceration period of 10 to 16 days,
which fostered the rich color, medium body, balanced mouthfeel and excellent
aging potential of the wine. Following a moderate fermentation temperature of
75°F, the wine was aged for 22 months in a combination of French, American
and Hungarian oak barrels, 27% of which was new, giving it a plush mouthfeel
and complex layers of flavor.

This is so crunchy and refined, with beautiful fresh strawberry, orange peel, citrus, flint and slate aromas. Medium-bodied, crisp and clean, with just a hint of tannin at the end.

The Bohan Dillon Pinot Noir is Hirsch's gateway to their lineup. As the 'entry-level' wine in the portfolio, this bottling outshines many everyday Pinots. It blends two coastal sites—Hirsch and Hellenthal—and an inland vineyard, Heintz. As a result, you get a wine that expresses both regions' characteristics. The 2023 vintage shows a light ruby colour in the glass that matches the wine aromatics, leading into elegantly effortless notes of juicy red berries, soft, sweet florals, and a whisper of coastal herbs—nothing overpowers. On the palate, a touch of minerality meets tart cranberries and fresh raspberries, all lifted by well-integrated, mouthwatering acidity. Made to be drunk young, this easy medium-bodied Pinot is a go-to for a roasted chicken dinner or a pizza night.

The 2023 Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon is a very pretty, understated offering from Hirsch. Silky tannins wrap around a core of bright red-toned fruit, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herbs. This mid-weight Pinot is all charm. Those qualities are best enjoyed over the next handful of years. Organic / Biodynamic

Bohan-Dillon is inspired by the great village wines of Burgundy. Hand-harvested. Fermented in small open-top tanks and then aged in French oak, 32% new. 13.2% abv

"Aromas of black plum, cherry, rhubarb and hints of earth and loam. Flavors of red plum, raspberryand blood orange are underpinned by distinctive riverstone minerality and savory umami character. Plush and richly textured with juicy yet balanced acidity and integrated toasty barrel spice."

Organic / Natural / No Sulphur

Hand-harvested organic Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from twenty year old vines in Los Carneros California. Fourteen day spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak with indigenous yeasts then aged 24 months in neutral oak, 12 months in bottle. There is no fining nor filtration and zero sulfur is added. Their red blend from Carneros is a knock-out! A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that spent 24 months in neutral oak and 12 months in bottle before release. The wine is deep, but not brooding, with classic cassis, blackberry, tobacco leaf, and allspice notes. Although full-bodied the wine is lively and easy to drink. No gloppy late-harvest fruit put in 200% new oak barrels here, just a beautifully balanced well-made wine. Bravo Les Lunes!
