The 2022 Carménère Gravel Soils hails from Isla de Maipo. Purple in hue. The nose opens with ashes and spices, green bell pepper and sandalwood, and hints of incense. It is an attractive and nuanced red. On the palate, it offers loose and fine grain tannins textured as well as a more silky than velvety palate. A rare red lean in the flow and voluptuous in weight

Grapes are sorted and destemed and then fermented in stainless steel with wild yeast.

Post fermentation the wine is moved to neutral barrels to rest for a few months before going into 5,000 l foudres for aging for 12 months.

Vanilla and resin accents frame the core flavors of boysenberry, blackberry and plum in this firmly structured red. Flashes of violet and spices emerge as this fades gracefully on the long aftertaste.

Organic

They used grapes from the village of Fitero to ferment the must in stainless with indigenous yeasts. The wine matured mostly in concrete, a 2,000-liter Stockinger foudre and five new 500-liter French oak barrels. It's fresh, floral and elegant, with purity and balance, a spicy touch from the wood. It has a very tasty finish and even a salty twist, super fresh with lots of finesse. It has volume and freshness, the vibrancy from an early harvest and the contained ripeness and alcohol. This is the style they wanted for this wine and took the time to find it; it's more Burgundian than Mediterranean, to me. It should age nicely in bottle. And a bargain.

Organic / Biodynamic

This crisp, zesty, flavorsome dry Riesling comes from rolling hillside vineyards in the southern Pfalz around Ilbesheim. Most of the soils are loam mixed with a top layer of loess — a decomposed calcium-rich dust deposited from ancient glaciers. The wine was vinified in steel and offers 7+ grams of acidity and a very slim 4g/l RS. It’s practically bone-dry, but the fruit tastes super-ripe thanks to a vintage of generous Pfalz sunshine. Incredible quality in a liter wine and a truly great price–especially for a wine that’s certified biodynamic and all estate-grown.

The Traminette is a fruity and light hybrid grape based on Gewurtztraminer. It's off-dry at 1.5% residual sugar. - Winery
