The 2022 M??con-Verz?? is a blend of all the Domaine's parcels in the middle of the slope on chalky soils and went through an eight-month fermentation. This has a crisp nose of lemon rind and crushed stone. It's focused and not complex, but it displays commendable vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with pretty white and yellow fruit and slightly higher acidity that lends more precision and nervosit?? to the finish.

The 2022 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, which comes from two parcels within Savigny, has a bright red cherry and strawberry bouquet. The palate is piquant on the entry, delivering moderate depth and a tightly wound, very saline finish.

This cuvee is sourced from vines the age of which is between 45 and 70 years. A wine of exceptional concentration for a village level appellation, this wine is always a true expression of the kimmeridgian soils that make Chablis so distinctive. Aged for thirty months before release, Defaix?€?s old vines Chablis is richly dense with a classic "pierre a fusil" bouquet and long mineral-infused finish.

An aromatic explosion of cherry and red fruit aromas. Crunchy and complex on the palate with a long finish. The color is electric, a glowing cherry color. Elegant and graceful on the palate with soft balanced tannins. This is a mountain wine through and through. This is a fine example of Pinot Noir, as the varietal is meant to be pretty not syrupy. 100% Pinot Noir, organically farmed, from 30 year old vines aged twelve months in used oak barrels.

... has a lovely bouquet with ripe raspberry and strawberry scents. The palate is well balanced with sappy red berry fruit, fine boned tannins and a white pepper tinged finish. This is showing well now but might begin closing down for a period.

The pinot noir for this wine is found in the village of Bussieres and is sourced from the lieu-dit ?? Les Clos ??. The vines are south-facing at 350 feet above sea level on gently sloping hills that are principally composed of clay. The fruit tends to ripen early due to its excellent exposure. Pigeage and remontage are practiced during fermentation. This wine is marked by notes of black, ripe berries, often a touch ?€?sauvage?€?.

The grapes for this cuv??e are sourced from four separate parcels within Pierreclos: Margots, Le Ch??teau, Les Grands Buys and La Bucherate. The average age of the vines is forty-five years. The vineyards face east, southeast and south and are situated about 350 feet above sea level on the gently sloping hills of Pierreclos. The wine is aged in cuve in contact with the fine lees but without any exposure to oak.

In fascinating contrast to ?€?Vaillon?€?, Defaix?€?s ?€?C??te de Lechet?€? is a master class in mineral precision. This remarkably steep site (a 45% gradient) with very poor soil produces a wine that Danny describes as embodying ?€?the real, true mineral expression of Chablis.?€? Freshly blasted chalk dominates the nose, with notes of lemon, honey, and fresh herbs lurking underneath; still, this is a wine of minerality first and foremost. The family owns a 3.5-hectare parcel of 45-year-old vines in this distinctive cru, most of which are planted within a parcel known as the Clos des Moines.

Chambertin-Clos-de-Beze is a Grand Cru vineyard and corresponding appellation of the Cote de Nuits. It forms half of a vineyard that is regarded not only as the most prestigious in Gevrey-Chambertin, but arguably the whole of Burgundy. The soils of the Chambertin-Clos-de-Beze vineyard are well drained and stony, with a thin layer of pebble-strewn, chalky topsoil over a deep, rocky base. The percentage of clay in the soil reduces higher up the site, giving way to drier, looser limestone.

Alain was born in 1950 to Yvon Burguet, a tacheron for Domaine Tortochot who also worked his own vines in Gevrey. fter military service, Alain returned to Gevrey and decided to start his own domaine, working exclusively with rented vines until 1974 when the opportunity arose to buy his first 2.10 ha of vines in the village. He bottled his own production from the start, and began to earn a reputation for himself, which was boosted around 1982 when Becky picked up Alain?????s wines. She brought Jean Troigros to taste, who was utterly impressed with the Gevrey Vieilles Vignes and promptly added them to his restaurant?????s list. Alain continued to expand his domaine, acquiring 1er Cru Les Champeaux in 1985, inheriting some of his father?????s 3.5 hectares in 1991, while still working rented vineyards. Well before the more global movement toward sustainability and almost 20 years before Ecocert was created to certify organic agriculture, Alain insisted on organic methods.
