So expressive and so precise, this is a great modern Cornas. Haunting nose of black forest berries with notes of dry forest floor and wild herbs. Then comes the wonderful combination of restrained richness and youthful freshness on the vertical, medium-bodied palate. And just as the coolness of evening follows the heat of the day, the mineral vibrancy of the finish follows the succulence of the mid-palate.

The 2022 Cornas Granit 30 was made from fully destemmed grapes. It exhales prominent black fruit aromatics paired with pencil shavings, iodine and an underlying rusticity. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and concentrated, theres plenty of old-world savoriness in this classic 2022 Cornas...Vincent Paris produced a solid set of wines in 2021 but really excelled in 2022. These are distinctively savory Cornas expressions, but they neatly capture balance and freshness. Neither truly modern nor fully traditional, the Paris style sits somewhere in between, perhaps leaning a bit more toward the latter.

This cuvee is sourced from vines the age of which is between 45 and 70 years. A wine of exceptional concentration for a village level appellation, this wine is always a true expression of the kimmeridgian soils that make Chablis so distinctive. Aged for thirty months before release, Defaix?€?s old vines Chablis is richly dense with a classic "pierre a fusil" bouquet and long mineral-infused finish.

Organic / Biodynamic

A blend of various plots surrounding the Clos Baudoin, including L?€?Espagnole, Le Haut Lieu, La Chatterie, L?€?Homme and La Reugni??res. Average of 40 year vine age. This blend of top sites from the Vouvray appellation is always vinfied dry, usually around 4 g/l of residual sugar. It is fresh and open on the nose and has a bit more power and bredth than its Montlouis counterpart from Clos du Breuil.

The 2023 Vouvray ?€?Le Haut Lieu?€? Sec from Domaine Hu??t is a classic in the making, coming in at an even thirteen percent octane in this vintage and offering up a bright and complex bouquet of quince, lemon, chalky soil tones, lanolin, white lilies and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, a fine spine of acidity, lovely focus and grip and a long, well balanced and complex finish. As is so often the case with the Sec bottlings from Domaine Hu??t, the 2023 Le Haut Lieu is quite open out of the blocks and is a delicious glass of wine at the present time. If history is any guide, a few years down the road it will close up for a period of hibernation before it re-emerges to drink well for another fifty years. Fine juice. 2024-2085.

The 2023 Vouvray Sec Le Haut-Lieu is a pure, refined, seamless style with pear, pineapple and nectarine flavors. It boasts excellent clarity and refinement, with lovely freshness hailing from calibrated acidity that bursts through this blossoming wine. Considering this was only bottled three weeks before tasting, I?€?m very encouraged by the results

A red with lots of currant, blackberry, fresh-herb and tobacco character. Hint of mushroom, too. It?€?s full and layered with polished, chewy tannins and a bright and fresh finish. Very long and focused. Give it time to come together. Very classic character here. Best after 2026.

The 2020 Sociando Mallet has retained its impressive aromatics from its showing in barrel with beautifully defined blackberry and raspberry fruit, pressed violet and light cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm backbone, a little powdery in texture, fine backbone with ample freshness and tension towards its graphite-infused finish. Bravo!

Lots of red and blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and leafy tobacco notes all emerge from the 2020 Ch??teau Siran, a medium-bodied, elegant, incredibly pretty and finesse-driven Margaux. It shows the fresher, elegant style of the vintage and has remarkable purity, fine tannins, and a great finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Siran features notes of blackcurrant jelly, ripe redcurrants and raspberry leaves, plus suggestions of wild sage, tar and underbrush, with a waft of wild mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering approachable, soft tannins and plenty of red berry layers, finishing earthy.
