"Half the whisky was aged in bourbon barrels, the other half in sherry casks. This whisky has always been on my short list as one of the finest, most affordable 12 year old single malts available. While the price may have gone up a bit (I remember when it was $20!), the quality remains the same. It’s fresh and lively. Glenmorangie Signet is blend of their oldest whisky and spirit matured in a selection of the world's finest casks. It is undoubtedly is the richest whisky in the Glenmorangie range. "The sherry is very dominant and cloying, which is unfortunate. And I'm not crazy about the quality of the sherry (or perhaps even the wood it was aged in). I have great respect for both Highland Park and Binny's, but this is somewhat disappointing for a Highland Park." Whisky Advocate, 55% abv

Speyburn 10 years old single malt is matured in a combination of American Oak ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Time to rethink. Speyburn, one of the forgotten distilleries of Rothes, is a charmer. The Talisker Storm is made from whiskies of different vintages. The distillery managed to keep its typical character and also create an experience with strong and marine flavors. It bears no age statement but is stronger and more intense than the 10-year-old. Nose: mellow smokiness, briny, fresh clean notes, and pronounced pepper. Palate: medium bodied with tongue-coating sweetness, nutty smokiness and spice notes. The flavor is elegantly drawn out with a good balance between sweetness, smoke and salt, which is all the more evident when a little water is added.
