’06 Bodegas Carmen Rodriguez Carodorum "Issos" $16.97
The 2006 Issos offers up plenty of pepper and baking spices as well as fragrant incense and blackberry aromas. Supple and forward on the palate, the wine offers a big mouthful of fruit buttressed by enough ripe tannin to carry the wine through 2014.
Carodorum is a small 16 hectare estate located in a region where phylloxera has never taken hold. Consequently, the wines are produced from ungrafted Tinta de Toro vines, many of which are over 100 years of age.

’06 Solano Mendoza Malbec $6.99

’08 South Hill Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc $10.79
A terrific everyday white with sharp grapefruit, fresh cut grass, and white pepper accents. Perfect for fish, finger food, and light pasta dishes. Also a great wine for bringing along to a picnic, or any out door activity on a hot summer day.

’99 Azienda Agricola Sant'Elena Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Merlot $13.97
Bordeaux lovers prepare to have your minds blown. That's right, we said Bordeaux! Despite this wine's origin in Friuli, Italy, it drinks just like an aged vintage from a stellar estate on the right bank. Don't believe us? Go ahead and do what we did a few weeks back, and blind taste some of your most knowledgeable friends, especially if their knowledge is Bordeaux heavy. We dropped names like Petrus and Le Pin, yet not one of our tasters batted an eye. They all complimented this wine's terrific tannins, bell-pepper notes, and its rich black fruit that just screams Bordeaux. Buy whatever you can fit in your cellar, as a wine like this doesn't come along every day, but at this price, you can drink it like it does.

’07 Kinheimer Rosenberg “Sankt Anna” Mosel Kabinett Semi-Sweet Riesling$9.99
This brighter than bright Riesling is a steal. You almost never get the balance between acid and residual sugar at this price-point, and it shows some terrific notes of peach, pear, and ripe stone fruits. This is a "do anything" wine and is just at home with some Chinese take-out, as it is with a cheese-plate, or as a midweek quaffer.

’09 Highfield Estate “Rain” Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc$12.49
Refreshing notes of pink grapefruit, jalapeno, and white pepper all shoot out from the glass. This is a real palate cleanser and is perfect for those pre-dinner moments when you are looking for something fun to pass around while the grill or oven heats up. Also works great with seafood, especially things like grilled calamari or shrimp.

’07 Coppola "Claret Diamond" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend $13.99

’08 Domaine la Garrigue "Cuvée Romaine" Côtes du Rhône $12.99

’08 Cline "Ancient Vines" Contra Costa Zinfandel $12.97
The 2008 Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows wonderful dusty raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice, with coffee ans chocolate characters. Ripe fruit amd soft tannins make this wine a rich vintage. Aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely compliments the explosive fruit notes.

’06 David Finlayson "Edgebaston" Stellenbosch Chardonnay $13.99
A rich, creamy style, with fig, piecrust and grilled hazelnut notes leading the way, followed by hints of pear tartine and spice on the lush finish. Well done.

’NV Pérez Barquero "Gran Barquero" Montilla-Moriles Amontillado $14.99
This dry Amontillado is a rich nut brown color with expressive aromas of caramel, hazelnut, butterscotch and smokey vanilla. With a beautifully classic and bracing snap on the palate, it offers additional notes of milk chocolate, butter, corn silk and smoke that are capped by amazing length. The ideal apéritif to pair with toasted almonds, olives, cured meats, boldly flavored appetizers or even with batter fried fresh fish or southern fried chicken. It also works as a bold after dinner sipper.

’06 Knorad & Co “Mount Fishtail” Marlborough Pinot Noir $10.79
This medium bodied red shows some nice cranberry and strawberry accents with a decent dose of acidity. Would work really well with salmon, light pasta, and grilled meats. Perfect for anyone looking for an everyday, affordable Pinot Noir with a fuller body than the traditional Old World style.
